Finally getting around to sharing this. This was a show I really didn’t
want to go to for a variety of reasons but looking back, glad I did. I had
2 tickets held at will call. My friend couldn’t go so had a hard time selling
it. Three different people flaked on me on craigslist, then when I picked up
the seats they were not the seats I was expecting (it is always a crapshoot
when I get seats this way although usually better than expected). At that
point I tried to sell both but there were dozens of people with extras. Was
able to sell one at half of cost and no luck selling a $200 ticket for more
than $50 I figured I might as well go. I got in, got to my seat about 3
minutes beforee the opener and recorded the set. Between sets I met a few folks
who I had connected up with from the Desert Trip festival which was fun. When
Petty came on it was a lower energy show from Bottlerock a few months earlier
which made sense given the next two nights were postponed due to him being sick.
There are a few spots where people were asking me where their seats were since I
was on a corner aisle seat. Not the best effort, but given Tom Petty’s passing
looking back I am glad I was there.
