As promised back in December, I’m going to try to upload one under-circulated bootleg from every TPHB tour over the next few weeks. More info what I’ve previously uploaded is below.
CONTEXT NOTES FOR SHOW:
This is a rarely-circulated show from Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers’ fall/winter leg of their 2002 tour. Since they released ‘The Last DJ’ album was released a few weeks prior, the band was able to play quite a few songs off the album for the audience (8 of the album’s 12 tracks!). That these late 2002 shows focused so much on the new album is demonstrated by the fact that two of the band’s live staples and biggest hits — “Free Fallin” and “American Girl” — wound up not making their way into a lot of the setlists.
What is also notable about this show is the rare performance of the Count Five “Psychotic Reaction” cover. The band played this song in the early ’90s and used it as an opportunity for Stan Lynch to sing. Here, though, given Lynch’s departure, TP takes over.
Enjoy!

NOTE ON POSTS:
I am not a recorder or filmer of live shows. However, I am an avid trader/poster who wants others to enjoy the live shows that often sat in bootleggers’ collections, un-traded and untouched.
