Welcome back to Volume 34 of the DS Archives and our second non-Bruce release with the fourth night of Tom Petty’s 1981 tour and Recorder 2 source for this stop in Detroit taken from Dan’s master tapes.

A few weeks ago, Jared’s JEMS master was put into circulation and Dan’s master is an excellent compliment. I would consider this an upgrade in that it is captured closer to the stage with no cuts, it is however missing the last three songs. Dan could not remember if they were taped or not, so the last three songs are taken from Jared’s recently released master.

The actual tapes were lost in Dan’s basement flood but fortunately for us he had transferred the show to CDR some years before that.

Thanks to Dan for the capture and allowing me the honor of working on his archives.

We will return shortly with more DS Archives releases…
