I went to this show with a handful of friends who had already purchased their lawn
tickets well in advance of the show date. The lawn eventually sold out and I couldnt
find a spare single anywhere online or in the parking lots for sale. I walked up to
the box office in advance of doors and they had just released a batch of tickets in
the center section of the pavilion. The ticket price was $149 (compared to the $47
my friends paid), but what the hell. I brought my recording gear just in case I
ended up in the pavilion. (As a general rule, I do not tape amphitheater shows from
the lawn — I’ve had some horrible experiences). The ticket ended up being about 8
seats LOC with a wonderful view of the entire stage.

During the show, this partially drunk lady in her 60’s sat directly in front of me
with her sister and started making a lot of commotion during Winwood’s set. When
TP&TH’s came out, she wouldnt stop screaming “Whooooo!” and thought it was
hilarious that the people in the row in front of her had to plug their ears every
time she opened her mouth she kept doing it to laugh at herself some more. It was
pretty ridiculous, I have never witnessed something so stupid in my life. You will
hear this between almost every song for majority of the show until they left during
“Runnin’ Down A Dream”. Then, all is quiet. If you hear small cuts in crowd noise
between songs or between banter, I was just cutting as many “Whooooo’s!” as humanly
possible. I did not remove any during the music. The guy next to me was getting a
kick out of my moving back in my row to get away from this lady and he made a few
comments not knowing I was taping. I then showed him my microphones and he stayed
super quiet and took down my email address. We had fun making gun gestures at the
back of her head periodically during the show – what a super cool guy!

The good news is the tape sounds pretty decent for an outdoor pavilion show and the
screamer kept it between songs, for the most part. Tom sounded great, was energetic
and was even pretty funny at times. Out of the 3 times I have seen them (2001, 2008
& 2014), this ranked #1 performance wise.
